This week in the Tiger cross country team traveled to
Marlow, OK this past weekend to compete in the 24th Annual Outlaw
Invitational Hosted by Marlow High School. This meet served
for two main purposes; to compete against runners and teams we do
not normally see in this area and also get a chance to run the
regional course before the regional meet scheduled for October 25,
2008. This meet featured many of the top teams in 5-A and
6-A as well as 4-A schools.
The lady Tigers had one runner medal in the large field of
85 runners with Shelby Hayes Placing 28th with a time of 14:42.
Stefanie Almeida and Brittany Gallegos placed
37th and 44th Respectively. Cynthia Ochoa ran well, running her
second fastest time of the season, placing 69th place finish. The
Lady Tigers ran against several 4-A teams and placed 3rd out
of 4 teams competing, with Marlow placing 4th and Weatherford
placed 12 points ahead of the Tigers. Douglass's 232. Overall the
Lady Tigers finished in 10th out of 13 teams.
The Boys Team ran well considering this was a fairly tough course
to run. Onve again the tigers were paced by Josh Pierce and Nick
Ramos Who finished 27th and 30th respectively in the large field
of 96 runners. Trevor Bowers, Peter Corral, and Hiram Villa
rounded out the next three finishers for the team. They Placed
36th, 47th, and 50th.
The tigers were not able to meet their goal team time at this
meet, but placed ahead of all the 4-A Schools competing in the
meet. This meet consisted of 3 of the top 14 teams in 6-A,
with 7th ranked 6-A contender Edmond Santa Fe winning the
meet with 21 team points, followed by West Moore, and
Norman. The Tigers placed 6th at the meet out of 13 teams and
finished with 179 Team points, well ahead of 4-A rival
Weatherford with 259 points. Other teams the Tigers placed ahead
of were Chickasha, Altus, Duncan, Waurika, Lawton Ike and South
Moore.
The Tigers have one meet left to finish out their
season as they prepare For the regional meet. You can catch the
Tigers running at Lakin, KS this Saturday. The meet is located at
the Lakin Golf Course and will start at 10:00 a.m. This meet
features a freshmen and sophomore race and a junior and senior
race. We hope to see you there.
The Tigers also have their new fundraiser cross country T-shirts
available for sale at $10.00. They have adult sizes from S-XXL.
