  Guymon Tiger Cross Country

Hugoton Meet Results

The Tigers Cross Country Team traveled to Hugoton, KS this past Saturday and was greeted with beautiful weather and stiff competition. Overall there were around 560 runners total in all divisions and around 28 schools attended the meet.  12 Tiger runners met their goal times for this meet.

The JH Runners are nearing the end of their season as they have one meet left at Beaver next weekend.  With that thought in mind they were out to set personal bests.  Corey Nunez continued his dominating ways he placed 2nd with a mile time of 5:40.  Gustavo Rios and Dylan Beasley also ran very well placing inside the top 25 out of a total of 50 runners.

The JH girls also ran very well with Sydney Fogle leading the team with a 2nd place finish in the 1.3 mile course.  Other notable finishes were Aston Sledge with a 13th place finish and Michelle Vela, Cai Barias, Tiana Ramos, and Nayema Martinez all setting personal bests in the 1 mile run in the 7th grade division.

The high school girls all competed in the JV girl's race (4K) and placed well.  Cecilia Gamboa, Cynthia Ochoa, Samantha Villasenor, and Sydney Ritter all ran personal bests.  Brittany Gallegos and Shelby Hayes placed 2 and 3 respectively.  The girls' team also placed first out of the JV teams competing in that race.

The high school boys ran the 5K course well, but were unable to repeat the previous performances at the Perryton meet.  Josh Pierce led the way for the tigers with a 31st place finish out of a field of 92 runners running a time of 19:07.  Nick Ramos and Trevor Bowers both ran under 19:30.  Peter Corral ran a very good time in the boys JV placing 3rd with a time of 19:55. The varsity boys were not able to beat their fastest team this year of 19:24. At the Hugoton meet we ran a 19:50 average team time.

You can catch the Tigers in action Saturday September 27th at Beaver, OK as they look to improve upon their performances from the Hugoton meet. The meet will be held by the football field and will kick off around 9:00 a.m.
