BOISE CITY — The Guymon High School “A” and “B” golf teams picked up first- and second-place at the Boise City Invitational at Boise City Golf Course Monday.

The Tiger “A” squad bested the Guymon “B” squad by nine strokes, 343-352.

Trey Fankhouser was the boys’ meet medalist with a 79, including a front-nine 39.

Forgan, thanks to medalist Ashley Underwood’s 84, won the girls’ competition with a 384, well ahead of second-place host Boise City.

Finishing second to Fankhouser was Guymon “B” golfer Andrew McCulloch, who put together a season-best round of 83.

Caleb McMurry carded an 86 and Dakota Wilson an 88. Seniors Josh Edenborough and Trever Lutz posted season-best scores with a pair of 90s to round out the Tiger “A” scores.

Chad Huckins carded an 86, Ethan Novak an 88 and Landon Hyer a 95 to complete the Guymon “B” scores.

“We had a lot of career-bests,” Guymon head boys’ coach Jerry Cooper said.

“Step by step, we are getting better,” Cooper continued. “It’s a slow process. Trey shot a 79, and that’s despite having five 3 putts. We’re going to have to work on his putting a little more. And, Andrew, I’m proud of him, he’s one of the hardest workers we have on the team.”

J.D. Pugh posted Texhoma’s low score with an 88. Boise City’s Brad Ottinger fired a 96 and Forgan’s Bryan Morris scored a Cardinal-low 97. Aaron Gibler turned in Hooker’s best round with a 104.

Other scores were Texhoma’s Ben Mitchell (93), Yarbrough’s Gerardo Alvarado (110) and Felt’s Jason Montgomery (118).

GIRLS: Cruzan takes second

Guymon’s Jade Cruzan posted an 85, finishing one stroke behind Underwood for second place. Chelsea Montano fired a 93 and Cytorie Clark put together a season-best 115.

Kayla Eldridge had Forgan’s second-best round with a 98.

Other area scores of note were Boise City’s Kanon White (120), Hooker’s Crystal Ferguson (127), Yarbrough’s Breann Patrick (132) and Texhoma’s Lyndi Berry (134).
