WATONGA, Okla. — Lauren Gibson and Vanessa DeWilde
were Guymon High School’s shining stars on Saturday at the Class 4A
regional track meet. Gibson posted a time of 16.78 seconds to qualify
for state in the 100-meter hurdles. Gibson was second to Elgin’s Brooke
Higgins, who won the regional title in 15.33 seconds.
Vanessa DeWilde also put on a good show for the Lady Tigers, finishing
third overall in the discus throw with a distance of 106 feet, five
inches.
For the Tiger boys, Josh Pierce had the best showing, finishing fourth
overall in the 1600-meter run with a time of 4:47.23.
