The GHS Academic Team competed at the regional tournament November 15, 2008  in Elk City and scored season-high points.  Scoring 110 points in their first match against Woodward, the Guymon team racked up points in such lightning round topics as Big XII sports and chemical formulas. 

“All of our players scored exceptionally well for us,” Coach Laura Brandherm added, “but Sean Swanda really made points for us in the Big XII category.” 

The team scored 120 points in the second round, narrowly missing a berth at the area tournament in January. 

Other player point totals were Swanda with 40, Dalton Imboden with 50, Paxton Maddox with 10, and senior, Tiffany Leach with 10.

The team is looking forward to curriculum contests at area universities this spring.
