October is National Principals Month, and we're celebrating the dedicated leaders who make a difference across Guymon Public Schools every day!
Today, we're recognizing Chad Foster, Principal of Academy Elementary School! Mr. Foster has spent 14 years in education, including the last seven with Guymon Public Schools!
Mr. Foster originally came to Guymon to coach football, but it was the people and relationships he built that convinced him this was the place for him.
One thing he's especially proud of is the hard work students and staff have put into the district's literacy initiative. His favorite school tradition is Academy's Field Day, where students get to have fun, compete, and make memories together!
When asked what he hopes students remember about their time at Academy, Mr. Foster shared that he wants them to remember enjoying learning, looking forward to coming to school, and knowing they had someone they could always count on.

Born and raised in Guymon, Mrs. Gutierrez has spent her entire 14½-year career in education with GPS! Her family moved to Guymon in 1987 in search of better opportunities, and today, she's helping create opportunities for the next generation of Tigers!

The diversity of her staff! Mrs. Gutierrez values having educators from different backgrounds and cultures, allowing students to see themselves represented and connect with role models who inspire them.

She loves watching students discover their talents through activities like the Rattlesnake Run, Circle the State with Song, Academic Team, Band, Track Meet, Land Run, and Talent Show! These experiences help students build confidence and explore new interests.

With 21 years in education and 18 years at GPS, Mrs. Yell has dedicated much of her career to helping students grow, succeed, and discover their potential.

The teachers and support staff who genuinely care about their students! Mrs. Yell loves seeing her team work to strengthen instruction while providing opportunities for students to explore their interests through athletics, electives, clubs, and extracurricular activities.
🐯 Favorite School Traditions:
She couldn't pick just one! The GJHS Thanksgiving Dinner, which brings nearly 500 students, staff, and guests together, and the annual Clash of Classes are two traditions she looks forward to!

More than anything, Mrs. Yell hopes students leave GJHS knowing they were cared for, believed in, and encouraged to reach high expectations.
