Guymon Public Schools has updated the language we use to communicate during lockdown situations. This helps ensure that parents, staff, and our community understand exactly what’s happening — and that our students are safe and supervised.
Here’s what each level means:
🟡 Level 1 – Lockdown
We are aware of a situation outside the school (e.g., police activity, stray animal). All exterior doors are locked, and classes continue normally indoors.
🟠 Level 2 – Lockdown
Due to a situation requiring limited movement inside the school (e.g., medical emergency, weather alert, or disruptive disciplinary issue), students remain in classrooms until the situation is resolved.
🔴 Level 3 – Full Lockdown
Due to an immediate safety threat inside the school, the building is in a full lockdown. Students and staff follow safety procedures, and law enforcement is on site. Updates are shared as soon as it’s safe to do so.
🟢 All Clear
The situation has been resolved, verified by school administration and/or law enforcement. Normal operations resume safely.
REMINDER: When we are in a lockdown, all doors will be locked and you will not be able to check your student in or out.
Your child’s safety is always our top priority at Guymon Public Schools.
