Guymon, OK – March 2025 – Guymon Public Schools is proud to highlight Kali Cutright in our March Staff Spotlight. As a dedicated coach and educator, Cutright plays an integral role in the district, leading high school volleyball and junior high track while also teaching an officiating class.
Growing up surrounded by influential teachers and coaches, including both of her parents, Cutright developed a deep appreciation for education and athletics. “Sports have provided me with incredible opportunities, and I am passionate about helping others receive a similar experience,” she said. Her commitment to student-athletes extends beyond coaching, as she seeks to help them grow in both skill and confidence.
“The traditional path to ‘giving back’ to your sport after you retire is often in the form of coaching,” Cutright explained. “I want to help inform and encourage people that there is more than one way to make a positive contribution to the sport you love when you are done playing.”
The bonds formed through coaching remain one of the most rewarding aspects of her work. She values the relationships she builds with her athletes and the sense of unity that comes from working toward a common goal. Watching her players grow in both strength and confidence, she said, is one of the most fulfilling parts of her job. She also enjoys the camaraderie that comes from traveling with student-athletes, saying that road trips provide an opportunity to see their personalities outside the classroom environment.
Beyond her work in the classroom and on the court, Cutright is also an accomplished basketball official. This year, she was selected to officiate the Texas High School Girls Basketball State Championship—an honor that she describes as an unforgettable experience.
“It was incredible to be selected to represent the Amarillo Officials Chapter in the atmosphere that is the Alamodome,” she said. “Understanding this is the biggest game of their lives for many of the coaches, players, and parents made my work even more meaningful.”
Cutright’s journey into officiating began in high school, when multiple knee surgeries sidelined her during her junior-year basketball season. Her father, a longtime coach, official, and athletic director, encouraged her to stay involved by officiating, and she has continued in the role for the past eight years. While balancing a full-time job with an officiating schedule can be challenging, she finds it rewarding to contribute to the sport and meet like-minded individuals along the way.
Outside of her professional commitments, Cutright enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, particularly camping and fishing. She lives by the motto “Be Where Your Feet Are,” a phrase that reminds her to be fully present in every aspect of her life—whether at home with family, at school with students, or on the court officiating a game.
Guymon Public Schools is honored to recognize Kali Cutright for her dedication, leadership, and impact on students and athletes. Her passion and commitment continue to make a difference in the lives of those around her.
