A Tradition of Excellence: Celebrating Prairie's Go-Getters

For more than 25 years, Guymon Public Schools has celebrated students who go above and beyond in the classroom through a special tradition now known as the Prairie Go-Getter Award!

The program began in 2000 at Salyer Elementary as a way to recognize students who demonstrated excellent attendance, completed their homework, and showed outstanding citizenship. With the Guymon Rotary Club serving as the primary sponsor during the program's early years, one student from each classroom was recognized each month.

Today, that tradition continues at Prairie Elementary, where students are celebrated monthly for demonstrating responsibility, kindness, good citizenship, and a commitment to learning. The Go-Getter Award is more than just a recognition – it's an opportunity to encourage positive choices and celebrate the qualities that make our students successful both inside and outside the classroom.

Community support has played an important role in keeping this tradition alive. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and organizations, each Go-Getter receives a special award T-shirt. McDonald's also helps make the celebration memorable by providing a Happy Meal for each monthly recipient!

We are proud to recognize and thank our 2026 Prairie Go-Getter sponsors:

– Guymon Rotary Club

– Guymon Air Pro

– Dahlmark Lawn Pros

– Fisch and Hitch

– 5R Cattle

– Guymon Vision Clinic

– SPC Office Products

– TCEC

– Diversified Energy

The Prairie Go-Getter Award is a wonderful reminder of what makes Guymon Public Schools special – a community that comes together to support students, recognize their accomplishments, and encourage them to be their very best.

Thank you to our generous sponsors and the dedicated staff at Prairie Elementary for continuing this meaningful tradition and celebrating our Go-Getters each month!
