✈️ Aviation Takes Flight at GHS! 🚁

The 2025–26 school year marks the launch of our new Aviation Program, beginning with this year’s inaugural Drone Technology class powered by AOPA’s nationally recognized curriculum.

Students are gaining hands-on experience with drone tech, aviation history, STEM labs, and career pathways that can lead to future FAA certifications — all part of a four-year pathway designed to open doors in both piloted and unmanned aviation fields.

Earlier this month, the class visited the Guymon Airport for real-world learning and a closer look at aviation operations.

We’re proud to share that Guymon Junior High School contributed 13,497 pounds of food and cash to Loaves & Fishes during this year’s Turkey Challenge — and these amazing students helped unload every bit of it!

We know that many families in our community count on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits (SNAP) to provide meals for their families. Due to the federal government shutdown, SNAP benefits will likely be temporarily interrupted, beginning November 1, 2025.

Please know that students will continue to receive free breakfast and lunch every school day through Guymon Public Schools. Our child nutrition program will remain fully operational, and no student will go without a meal at school.

Today we’re celebrating Mr. Gary Wallace, Principal at Guymon High School! 🐯

Mr. Wallace’s journey to Guymon began when a job opportunity opened at Guymon High School — and he’s been leading Tigers ever since.

Now in his 28th year in education and his 6th year as a principal, Mr. Wallace is known for his calm leadership, steady work ethic, and the high expectations he sets for himself and his students. His approach to education centers on perseverance, accountability, and always giving your best effort — values that have made a lasting impact throughout his career.

A few fun facts about Mr. Wallace:

Today we’re celebrating Mrs. Kasey Meyer, Principal at Carrier Early Childhood Center, Homer Long Elementary, and Homer Long Annex! 🐯

Mrs. Meyer’s journey with Guymon Public Schools began when she was offered her very first principal position right here in Guymon — and she’s been leading with heart, grace, and dedication ever since.

Now in her 28th year in education, Mrs. Meyer spent four years as a classroom teacher before moving into administration. This school year marks her 9th year as a principal in Guymon, where she continues to guide our youngest Tigers through their earliest learning experiences with care and compassion.

A few fun facts about Mrs. Meyer:

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family: Married to Jeff Meyer, with four children — Michale, Nick, Nicole, and Josh — and twelve grandchildren she adores

Born in Hugoton, Kansas, and raised right here in Guymon, Mrs. Yell is a proud 12-year senior and Guymon High School Class of 2001 graduate! After earning her degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University and completing her student teaching with Dorrie Test, she began her teaching career in Amarillo, Texas. When a Social Studies position opened up at GHS, she jumped at the chance to come home — and she’s been part of the Tiger family ever since.

Now in her 20th year in education and 17th year with Guymon Public Schools, Mrs. Yell leads with a deep love for her community and the students she serves.

A few fun facts about Mrs. Yell:
🌮 Favorite snack: Beef & bean burrito with a Mountain Dew from Allsup’s
🏀 Favorite teams: OKC Thunder (Thunder Up — 2025 Champs!) & the Guymon Tigers
🎧 Hobbies: Listening to true-crime podcasts, cruising around in her Jeep, and playing golf — even if she says she’s not very good yet!
